Police react to murder of Sergeant Ifeanyi by gunmen in Delta

The Nigerian Police have responded to the murder of a police officer in Delta state by gunmen identified as Sergeant Ifeanyi.

Remember that on Friday, social media reported that Ifeanyi had been murdered by his abductors.

Slain Ifeanyi was assigned to the Eagle Net patrol team of the Ughelli Area Command until his death.

However, details surrounding his murder remained scant as he was reportedly kidnapped on Thursday evening as he returned home from official duty.

Mr. Bright Edafe, the Police Public Relations Officer of the State Command, confirmed the incident on Saturday, stating, “The police officer who was killed was returning home after work.”

“He was intercepted and kidnapped; his body was later discovered. The search for the attackers has begun, and we will determine how to capture them as soon as possible.”

Three Delta Police officers assigned to the security detail of Delta Governor Ifeanyi Okowa were murdered by gunmen two months ago.

In July of last year, three police officers were murdered in Okpanam, Oshimili Local Government Area, Delta State by gunmen.
