A member of a notorious ritualist syndicate, Ifasoji Ayangbesan, has been arrested by the Ogun State Police Command for allegedly killing and dismembering one Oyindamola Adeyemi.

 

On Friday, April 28, the suspect was apprehended in his hideout located in the Ijebu-Ode region of the state.

Upon his arrest, the 35-year-old suspect reportedly attempted to bribe the police with N1 million in exchange for his release.

 

According to SP Abimbola Oyeyemi, the Police Public Relations Officer in the state command, a suspect has been arrested and this has been confirmed to journalists in Abeokuta on Sunday.

 

According to Oyeyemi, the suspect and accomplices allegedly murdered Oyindamola Adeyemi and mutilated her remains in a gruesome act believed to be linked to a money-making ritual.

According to Oyeyemi, the victim was reportedly murdered in the Ijebu-Ode region of the state back in January.

According to the Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO), the arrest of the suspect was made possible through a thorough intelligence-based investigation carried out by detectives from Obalende divisional headquarters. The investigation led them to the suspect’s hideout located at the Ijade Iloti area of Ijebu Ode.

According to sources, the suspect accused of purchasing the two legs of the victim fled the scene as soon as he was informed that his fellow syndicate members had identified him. The suspect had previously been indicted by those who were arrested earlier.

According to Oyeyemi, the DPO of Obalende division, Murphy Salami, has assigned detectives to pursue and apprehend an individual suspected of being involved in a crime related to the theft of two legs. The suspect may face prosecution alongside accomplices.

On the 28th of April 2023, luck seemed to have turned against him as he was apprehended at his hideout in Ijade Iloti.

 

Upon arrest, the suspect attempted to bribe the police officers with a sum of one million naira, which was ultimately declined.

During interrogation, the suspect admitted to being involved in the syndicate responsible for the murder of Oyindamola Adeyemi. He specifically confessed to severing the victim’s two legs, which he claimed were intended for use in a ritual.

 

According to sources, the Commissioner of Police, Olanrewaju Yomi Oladimeji, has reportedly ordered the transfer of the suspect to the State Criminal Investigation Department for prosecution alongside other members of his syndicate.
