Gov Alia freezes all Benue State bank accounts

All government bank accounts in the state of Benue are to be blocked, according to an order from Governor Hyacinth Alia.

Shortly after taking the oath of office as governor of Benue State at the IBB Square on Monday, Alia issued the directive in his inaugural speech.

A “Post No Debit” command, according to the governor, will be in effect until all signatories are altered.

He issued a warning to all banks to immediately follow the instruction.

“May I announce that all government bank accounts in all banks are hereby frozen, effective immediately and until further notice,” he stated. An instruction to “Post No Debit” is valid until all signatories are modified. Any bank that disregards this directive does so at their own peril.
