Passing of Esteemed Statesman Alhaji Shehu Othman Mourned, Laid to Rest

, a revered figure and former commissioner in the old Benue State, has passed away at the age of 91.

The late statesman, hailing from Keana in Nasarawa State, breathed his last on Wednesday, November 29, at the Trust Charitos Hospital in Jabi, Abuja, following a brief illness.

In a solemn statement issued by the family, they announced the demise of Alhaji with a heavy heart but in complete submission to the will of Allah. The statement conveyed the family’s grief and their intention to lay the late statesman to rest on the same day after the Zuhur prayer at the National Mosque in Abuja.

The family’s statement read:  “Inna lillahi wa ina ilaihir raji’un. With a heavy heart, but in total submission to the will of Allah, the family of Alhaji Shehu Othman wishes to announce his demise , 29th November 2023, aged 91, at the Trust Charitos Hospital in Jabi, Abuja, after a brief illness. May Allah rest and forgive the soul of the departed, and grant him Aljannah Firdaus, amen.”

Following Islamic tradition, the Janaza prayer, a funeral prayer, was conducted after the Zuhur prayer at 1:30 pm at the National Mosque in Abuja, with the burial proceeding at the Gudu Cemetery.

Alhaji Shehu Othman, born on June 26, 1932, held the esteemed title of Magajin Garin Keana until his passing. Throughout his illustrious career, the late nonagenarian served in various cabinet portfolios and held several Federal board appointments, leaving behind a legacy of service and dedication to his community and .
