A short video clip, lasting 27 seconds, has been widely shared online, depicting two individuals organizing and counting large stacks of currency using a counting machine. The posts imply that the Department of State Services (DSS), Nigeria’s secret police, recently uncovered a substantial cash stash in the home of Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).

Ejes Gist News observed that a significant number of social media users who shared the video are known supporters of President Bola Tinubu. It’s worth noting that the video in question lacks any accompanying audio and appears to depict U.S. dollars.

However, according to an article published by The Cable on Friday, June 16, it has been discovered that the viral video actually originated from Sudan, a North African country. The video was traced back to April 22, 2019, when a substantial amount of cash, exceeding $7 million, was discovered at the residence of Omar Bashir, Sudan’s former president who was subsequently ousted. Arab News provided coverage of this event. Currently, Bashir is receiving medical treatment at the Aliyaa Hospital in Omdurman after being relocated from prison amidst recent intense conflicts within the country.

It’s important to clarify that the individuals involved in the video are connected to the Sudanese situation and not directly related to the ongoing investigation surrounding Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN).
