In a statement released on Monday evening, the Director of Information in the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF), Willie Bassey, announced that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR, has given his approval for the dissolution of the Governing Boards of all federal government parastatals, agencies, institutions, and government-owned companies. This decision was made in accordance with the President’s Constitutional Powers and in the interest of the public.
It is important to note that this dissolution does not apply to Boards, Commissions, and Councils listed in the Third Schedule, Part 1, Section 153 (i) of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria, as amended.
In light of this development, the running of the affected federal government entities will be overseen by Permanent Secretaries. Any matters requiring the attention of the dissolved Boards should be referred to the President through the Permanent Secretaries of the relevant supervisory Ministries and Offices. Furthermore, these correspondences should be routed through the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation.

To ensure compliance with this directive, all Ministries, Departments, and Agencies must adhere to its provisions, which became effective from Friday, June 16, 2023. Permanent Secretaries are specifically instructed to notify the Chief Executive Officers of the affected Agencies under the supervision of their respective Ministries/Offices for immediate compliance.
