Napoli’s star striker, Victor Osimhen, may not be a certain starter in the upcoming Champions League match against Real Madrid, according to the club’s new coach, Walter Mazzarri.

Despite making a comeback in the recent 2-1 victory against Atalanta after a month-long absence due to a thigh injury, Osimhen’s status remains uncertain.

In a press conference on Tuesday, Mazzarri expressed his concerns about overloading the pivotal player. “Tomorrow I will talk to the doctors and Osimhen. We will see if he will be able to do a quarter or a half.

Such an important player should not be overloaded. We’ll see whether to start him or bring him into the game,” stated Mazzarri.

Acknowledging the challenge ahead, Mazzarri emphasized the difficulty of the Group C match against Real Madrid, especially after Napoli’s 3-2 defeat in their previous encounter in October.

“Tomorrow we have a very important head-to-head against one of the strongest teams in the world, and we will see where we stand. In the meantime, let’s start winning again,” he remarked.

Mazzarri praised Real Madrid’s manager, Carlo Ancelotti, and highlighted the talent of 20-year-old midfielder Jude Bellingham.

While recognizing Bellingham’s potential, he acknowledged Ancelotti as the best due to his extensive track record. However, Mazzarri emphasized that the outcome would be determined by the teams on the pitch.
