Renowned Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain, Dele Momodu, has strongly criticized the involvement of President Bola Tinubu in the peace deal between Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State and the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike.

Dele Momodu asserted that Tinubu cannot act as both the headmaster of state and the Federal Government, deeming the intervention legally absurd.

The long-standing dispute between Fubara and Wike centered around the control of Rivers State’s political structure and finances, has caused significant upheaval.

Notably, lawmakers in the state Assembly defected to the All Progressives Congress (APC), and several Commissioners resigned from the Fubara-led executive council.

In an attempt to mediate, Tinubu facilitated a peace deal between the conflicting parties at the Presidential Villa in Abuja. During the meeting, Tinubu outlined an eight-point resolution as part of the reconciliation process.

Taking to Instagram to voice his dissent, Dele Momodu expressed concern about the legality of a Federal President issuing directives to a state government.

He questioned the democratic principles at play, highlighting the apparent intrusion into the internal affairs of opposition parties and the unchallenged overruling of the constitution.
