Governor Fubara, a principal participant in the peace process, emphasized that after careful consideration, he views the peace pact more favorably than some portray it. He stated, “I have taken some time to study the terms therein and have come to the conclusion that the peace pact is not as bad as it is being portrayed by those genuinely opposed to it.”

He reaffirmed his commitment to implementing the peace declaration in a manner that restores stability without compromising democratic values.

Expressing gratitude to President Bola Tinubu for his intervention, Governor Fubara remarked, “Indeed, by this singular effort, our dear President has demonstrated that he loves Rivers State and cherishes nothing short of a reign of perfect peace in our state with his Presidential Peace Proclamation on the 18th of December 2023.”

In the spirit of Christmas, Fubara urged residents of the state to embrace the values of Jesus Christ, emphasizing selflessness, genuine love, and true forgiveness. Looking ahead to 2024, the governor expressed optimism about the transformation of the state, citing the completion of ongoing projects such as sections of the Port Harcourt Ring Road, the Andoni section of the Unity Road, the Ahoada-Omoku Road, the Emohua-Degema Road, and the commencement of new projects outlined in the 2024 budget.

As Rivers State aims for political stability and development, Governor Fubara’s commitment to the peace pact signals a positive step forward in addressing the challenges facing the region.
