NNPC has responded to recent media reports suggesting a clash between the Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited (NNPCL) and marketers over the payment of Premium Motor Spirit (PMS) petrol, the NNPC issued a clear denial on Wednesday, January 3.

According to the company’s Group Communications Officer, Olufemi Soneye, the NNPC emphasized that there have been no clashes with any party, labeling the reported headline by The Punch as “unfortunate.” Soneye clarified the company’s position in a succinct rejoinder, stating, “NNPC Ltd emphasizes it has not clashed with any party.

Contrary to the media report suggesting a conflict, the NNPC clarified that it had provided information regarding the complete removal of the subsidy on petrol. The original report implied that petrol prices could rise to N1,200 per liter due to the alleged clash over subsidy reduction.
