Supreme Court to Adjudicate 21 Governorship Appeals This Week.

 

The Supreme Court is set to hear 21 appeals related to disputes arising from the March 18, 2023, governorship elections this week. The schedule indicates that cases from Ebonyi, Plateau, Delta, Adamawa, Abia, Ogun, Cross River, and Akwa Ibom states will be heard between today and Thursday, with possible judgments on Kano, Lagos, and others expected on Friday.

Today’s proceedings will include an appeal by APGA’s candidate, Odoh Benard, as well as two appeals by the PDP and its candidate in Ebonyi State, Chukwuma Odii Ifeanyi, and two appeals by the PDP candidate in Benue State, Uba Titus against INEC, APC, and others.

Tomorrow’s agenda features six appeals – three on Plateau State filed by the PDP, its candidate Caleb Muftwang, and INEC; and three on Delta State, filed by Kenneth Gbagi (SDP), Ovie Augustine Omo-Agege (APC), and Peta Kennedy (LP).

Supreme court case for Wednesday 10, 2024

Wednesday’s hearing will focus on four appeals, two related to Adamawa State filed by the SDP candidate and a counter-appeal by Ahmadu Fintiri of the PDP (the governor). The other two appeals concern the Abia State governorship poll, filed by Okechukwu Ahiwe (PDP) and Ikechi Emenike (APC).

Thursday’s docket includes six appeals – two on Ogun State filed by Oladipo Adebutu (PDP) and a counter-appeal by Adedapo Abiodun (APC) (the governor); one on Cross River filed by Prof. Sandy Onor (PDP); and two related to Akwa Ibom State, filed by Akpan Udofia (YPP) and John Akpan Udoedehe (NNPP).

The Supreme Court is poised to play a crucial role in resolving these election-related disputes throughout the week.
