Former President Goodluck Jonathan Mourns the Passing of Beloved Sister, Madam Obebhatein Jonathan.

Former President Goodluck Jonathan is mourning the passing of his elder sister, Madam Obebhatein Jonathan, who peacefully departed this life on Thursday, January 11, at the Federal Medical Centre in Yenagoa, Bayelsa State, following a brief illness.

At the age of 70, Madam Obebhatein, affectionately known as Amissi, was not just a sister but a retired teacher, a dedicated businesswoman, a loving mother, and a grandmother. Her life was marked by a profound commitment to serving both God and humanity.

In a statement released by Mr. Ikechukwu Eze, the Special Adviser on Media to Jonathan, it was revealed that Obebhatein, described as a devout Christian, virtuous woman, and a role model within and beyond her community, left an indelible mark on the lives she touched.

The family has scheduled Obebhatein’s burial for Tuesday, February 16, 2024, with further details of the funeral rites to be announced in due course.
