Clark expressed his views in response to Buhari’s self-praise during the public presentation of Femi Adesina’s book, “Working with Buhari: Reflections of A Special Adviser, Media and Publicity (2015-2023),” and another book titled “Buhari, the Nigerian legacy (Volume 1-5).”

Contrary to Buhari’s positive assessment of his presidency, Clark argued that the majority of Nigerians consider Buhari’s tenure a failure. He asserted that Buhari’s administration led the country backward by five decades, emphasizing the prevalent issues of insecurity, economic collapse, injustice, religious bias, and a lack of direction.

Clark highlighted the discrepancy between Buhari’s declaration in his inaugural speech that he “belongs to everybody” and the actions of his administration. He pointed out that Buhari’s appointments, especially in the security sector, were largely from one section of the country, contradicting the notion that he belonged to the entire nation.

Clark stated, “He belongs to some people, but not the entire Nigeria,” challenging the authenticity of Buhari’s claim of being a leader for all.
