Minister Nyesom Wike Issues Stern Warning to Contractors, Vows Refund for Subpar Projects

In a bold move to ensure quality infrastructure development in the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), the Minister of FCT, Nyesom Wike, issued a stern warning to contractors, cautioning them that they will be required to refund payments if their projects fall short of expectations.

The announcement came during the flag-off ceremony for a 30km road project in Paikon Kore Community, Gwagwalada Area Council, where Nyesom Wike emphasized the importance of delivering high-quality work. The road project is part of a comprehensive plan to construct 30km of roads across the six area councils in the FCT.

Wike, while addressing the contractors, asserted the government’s commitment to providing necessary funds for the projects. However, he underscored the need for diligence and top-notch workmanship. He made it clear that he would personally inspect the project sites to ensure both quality and progress.

“Don’t make the mistake of thinking that I will not come here. I will come here and see what you are doing, and if you don’t do it well, you will pay back my money,” Wike warned, emphasizing the gravity of delivering on promises made under the “Renewed Hope Agenda.”

He relayed a message from the President, stating, “Mr. President directed me to let you know that the Renewed Hope Agenda is not by mere talking. Renewed Hope Agenda is for you to see that we are ready to bring back hope to our people.”

Nyesom Wike emphasized the agenda’s focus on improving the lives of the rural populace, ensuring their comfort, and providing vital infrastructure such as roads. The government’s commitment to delivering on these promises was reiterated by the Minister, highlighting the tangible steps being taken to uplift communities.
