Tension Escalates as Fulani Militants Murder Esteemed Monarch and Abduct His Wife, Alongside Two Others

In a distressing turn of events, unidentified gunmen launched a heinous attack on Koro community in Ekiti Local Government Area of Kwara State on Thursday night. The assailants claimed the life of the community’s revered monarch, General Segun Aremu (rtd), the Olukoro of Koro, and ruthlessly abducted his wife and two others.

The incident was verified by Governor AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq, who strongly denounced the killing of the Olukoro of Koro, labelling it as reckless, shocking, and abominable. Governor AbdulRazaq urged security agencies to employ all available resources to swiftly track down the perpetrators, liberate the kidnapped individuals, and bring the culprits to justice.

“We will certainly apprehend the perpetrators and ensure that this is their last crime against humanity,” affirmed the Governor, expressing heartfelt condolences to the grieving people of Koro. “Our hearts are broken, and we stand by them at this time and always,” he added in a statement conveyed by his Chief Press Secretary, Rafiu Ajakaye, in Ilorin on Thursday night.

A reliable source from the state police command in Ilorin confirmed the tragic incident, revealing that police operatives have initiated an investigation. Simultaneously, a search and rescue operation has been set in motion to locate and secure the abducted victims. The source also disclosed the deployment of the Divisional Police Officer to the late monarch’s palace.
