Fire Incident at Labour Party Chairman’s Home in Abuja: Family Rushed to Hospital
Julius Abure, the national chairman of the Labour Party, along with his family members, were hurried to the hospital after a fire broke out at his residence in Abuja early on Wednesday. The Labour Party has alleged that this incident might have been an assassination attempt on Abure, who recently secured re-election for a second term in office.
Obiora Ifoh, the national publicity secretary of the Labour Party, revealed the unsettling development in a statement issued on Wednesday, April 3.
According to Ifoh, Abure’s home was engulfed by what he described as a “mysterious fire,” which ignited shortly after 1 am while Abure and his family were asleep.

A family member recounted the harrowing ordeal, stating that they were alerted to the fire by neighbors and security personnel residing in the compound. The flames had spread to the staircase, trapping the entire family inside.
“The entire family was trapped as the inferno had reached the staircase making it impossible for Abure and family to escape,” the statement read.
Fortunately, with the assistance of neighbors and security personnel, a window upstairs was broken down, allowing Abure and his family to escape. Emergency responders from the Fire Service arrived shortly thereafter, though Abure and his family had already been evacuated.
Following the ordeal, Abure and his family were promptly taken to a private hospital for medical attention. Despite the severity of the situation, their condition has been reported as stable.
The Labour Party has expressed concerns over the circumstances surrounding the fire, hinting at the possibility of foul play. Investigations into the incident are expected to shed light on the cause of the fire and any potential motives behind it.
