Abia Governor, Alex Otti Unveils Dynamic Team with First Set of Appointments

Alex Otti, the newly inaugurated governor of Abia State, wasted no time assembling his administration by making his initial appointments.

 

Professor Kenneth Kalu will serve as the Abia State Secretary to the State Government, which is one of the notable appointments. Pastor Caleb Ajagba will assume the position of Chief of Staff, another important appointment.

Governor Otti shared the exciting news via social media. In a series of tweets, he announced the members of his administration:

 

– Professor Kenneth Kalu: State Secretary; – Pastor Caleb Ajagba, PhD: Chief of Staff to the Governor; – Dr. Ngozi Okoronkwo: Special Adviser for Health Care Delivery Services

 

– Ferdinand Ekeoma: Special Adviser, Media and Publicity; – Mr. Kazie Uko: Chief Press Secretary to the Governor; – Mrs. Njum Onyemenam: Accountant General; – Mr. Ogbonnia Okereke: Head, Special Taskforce on Emergency Cleanup of Aba and Umuahia.

 

Alex Otti, Freezes All Government Accounts, Dissolves Boards

The newly inaugurated Governor of Abia State, Dr. Alex Otti, has issued an order to freeze all accounts belonging to the Abia State Government and its agencies in all banks and financial institutions throughout the state and the country.

 

This event occurred after Otti, a member of the Labour Party (LP), was sworn in as the Executive Governor of Abia State on May 29, 2023, effectively ending the 24-year rule of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) in the state.

According to a statement issued by Ferdinand Ekeoma, the Special Adviser to Governor Otti on Media and Publicity, all banks and financial institutions in the country have been ordered to immediately stop honouring any cheque, document, instrument, or directive that does not have explicit approval from or originate from Dr. Otti.

 

“Governor Otti has also ordered the immediate dissolution of all boards governing state agencies and parastatals in Abia. Consequently, the Chief Executives of these organisations have been ordered to transfer their responsibilities to their successors,” Ekeoma explained.
