Festus Okoye, the electoral commission’s spokesman, announced this on Friday during an appearance on Channel Television’s Sunrise Daily.

Okoye claimed the Commission’s leadership had called the troubled REC to appear at the headquarters but that he had not done so and had not answered his phone when it had been called.

According to the INEC spokesman, the Nigeria Police Force (NPF) must issue a wanted declaration for Yunusa-Ari if he is on the run.

Okoye claimed that the Commission had requested in writing that Usman Akali Baba, the Inspector-General of Police, look into the suspended REC in order to consider filing charges.

In order to inform President Muhammadu Buhari of the REC’s improper activities and perhaps reconsider his appointment, INEC also wrote to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha.

However, due to his involvement in the controversies surrounding the Adamawa State supplementary governorship election, Buhari has approved Yunusa-Ari’s immediate suspension.
