Chimamanda Adichie’s Letter Fiction Inspired By Peter Obi’s Monumental Loss – Bayo Onanuga, APC spokesman slams the writer

 

Bayo Onanuga, a journalist and spokesman for the Tinubu/Shettima Presidential Campaign Council, has urged the president of the United States, Joe Biden, to disregard the letter written by Chimamanda Adichie, an international writer of Nigerian descent, regarding the recently concluded elections.

Onanuga’s response, which he posted to his Twitter account on Friday, follows a letter by Adichie to Biden urging him not to congratulate Bola Tinubu, Nigeria’s president-elect.

In her letter, Adichie alleged that the election was marred by irregularities and the Independent National Electoral Commission’s (INEC) failure to adhere to its mandated guidelines for the presidential election.

 

She went on to warn that recognising Tinubu’s presidency would “tarnish America’s self-proclaimed commitment to democracy and give legitimacy to an illegitimate process.”

However, Onanuga stated that Adichie’s fictional letter was inspired by the tragic loss of her tribesman Peter Obi, presidential candidate for the Labour Party, LP.

He wrote, “Dear Vice President Joe Biden, once the open letter by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie regarding Nigeria’s election reaches your desk, please discard it. She wrote fiction after the tragic death of her tribesman Peter Obi.
