This comes shortly after the Labour Party (LP) and Mr. Peter Obi, the LP’s presidential candidate, challenged Tinubu’s designation as the winner of the presidential election held on February 25, 2023, before the Abuja electoral petitions tribunal.
The petition with the designation CA/PEPC/03/2023 has INEC, Tinubu, his running mate, Senator Kashim Shettima, and the APC as respondents.
The petitioners are requesting that the tribunal rule that Tinubu was not properly elected by a majority of lawful votes cast in the election.
They want INEC to retrieve the certificate of return issued to the APC candidate, Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Meanwhile, the Labour party presidential candidate filed his petition with the election tribunal to contest the February 25th presidential polls that brought about the emergence of Bola Ahmed Tinubu of the All Progressives Congress as the President-elect.
