Court Bars 25 Lawmakers from Rivers State House of Assembly.

A Rivers State High Court sitting in Port Harcourt has barred the Speaker of the state Assembly and 24 other lawmakers from parading as members of the Rivers State House of Assembly .

The Speaker, Martin Chile Amaewhule, and his colleagues had defected from the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC), but the court ruled that their seats have remained vacant since their defection.

The court granted an interim injunction restraining the 25 lawmakers from parading as members of the Rivers State House of Assembly or meeting to carry out legislative business.
