Bello is set to succeed Prof. Isah Mohammed, appointed by the previous administration under President Muhammadu Buhari in November 2018.

This significant appointment was disclosed through a press release on Thursday, authored by Ajuri Ngelale, Tinubu’s Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, under the heading ‘President Tinubu Names New Code of Conduct Bureau Chairman.’

Describing the appointee, Ngelale highlighted Dr. Bello’s expansive 25-year career spanning consulting, banking, law enforcement, financial services, and academia, underscoring his diverse professional background.

Founded in 1979, the CCB was mandated by the Constitution to establish a standard of conduct for public officers. It was not until a decade later, under the Babangida administration in 1989, that the Bureau was formally empowered by the Code of Conduct Bureau and Tribunal Act, Chapter 58 LFN 1990. This act tasks the Bureau with receiving and examining declarations of assets by public officers, maintaining these records, and ensuring their accessibility to the Nigerian public under conditions set by the National Assembly.
