President Bola Tinubu has approved the appointment of Ambassador as the Federal Commissioner of the Revenue Mobilization, Allocation and Fiscal Commission (RMAFC).

The announcement, made by presidential spokesperson Ajuri Ngelale on Thursday, is pending upon the approval of the Nigerian Senate.

Ambassador Desmond Akawor, the newly appointed RMAFC Federal Commissioner representing Rivers State, steps into the role following the untimely passing of the former commissioner, Hon. Asondu Wenah Temple, earlier this month.

With an extensive record of service to the nation, Ambassador Akawor has previously held key positions, including Nigeria’s Ambassador to South Korea, Minister of State of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Sole Administrator of the Greater Port Harcourt Development Authority, CEO of the Niger Delta River Basin Development Authority, and Executive Director of the Nigerian Ports Authority (Engineering & Technical Services).

President Tinubu has charged Ambassador Akawor with utilizing his wealth of experience across various levels of government.
