Assistant Commissioner Of Police Duped By NYSC Member
Ukanwa Ikechukwu, an Oyo State National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) member, was brought before a magistrate’s court for defrauding a senior police officer.
On Friday, Ikechukwu was brought before the Iyaganku Magistrate’s Court for allegedly defrauding ACP Modupe Okpaleke of N235,000.

The NYSC participant allegedly obtained N235,000 from ACP Okpaleke around noon on December 4, 2022, according to the prosecution’s attorney, Insp. Olufemi Omilana.
Omilana testified in court that Ikechukwu, a physiotherapy student employed at the Police Cottage Hospital in Eleyele, Ibadan, had defrauded Okpaleke by taking N235,000 from him and using it for his own purposes.
According to the police, ACP Okpaleke met Ukenwa while seeking treatment for a leg ailment at the Police Cottage Hospital in Eleyele, Ibadan. Ukenwa suggested that she purchase a bicycle.
The corps member was accused of theft and false pretence.

According to him, the crime violated the terms of sections 390 (9) and 419 of the Criminal Code Laws of Oyo State 2000.
Following the defendant’s admission of innocence, Magistrate M. I. Giwa-Babalola granted him bail in the amount of N500,000 with two sureties in the same amount.
The hearing on the matter has been postponed until May 25.
