Guinea-Bissau President Umaro Sissoco Embalo has expressed the support of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS) for ’s efforts to reposition Nigeria, often referred to as the “giant of Africa.”

President Umaro, who also serves as the Chairman of the ECOWAS Authority of Heads of State and Government, made this statement during a private visit to Tinubu in Lagos on Saturday.

 

According to Mr. Dele Alake, Special Adviser on Special Duties, Communications, and Strategy to President Tinubu, the visit was strictly private and marked a cordial meeting between the two African leaders. President Umaro conveyed his appreciation for the economic measures implemented by President Tinubu in the past month, emphasizing that these steps would not only benefit Nigeria but the entire West African region.

The discussion touched upon the upcoming ECOWAS summit and explored various avenues of cooperation between Guinea-Bissau and Nigeria. Among those present at the meeting were , Chief of Staff to President Tinubu, Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu of Lagos, and Mr. Alake.

 

After more than three hours, the President of Guinea-Bissau concluded his visit and departed from the meeting venue.
