Nyesom Wike’s Dual Inclusion in Campaign Teams Raises Questions.

Former Rivers State Governor and current Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has found himself on both the list of the All Progressives Congress (APC) Bayelsa State National Gubernatorial Campaign Council and the campaign teams list released by the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) national secretariat in Abuja.

The yet-to-be-inaugurated campaign teams were revealed to the public on Tuesday and were signed by the National Organizing Secretary of the APC, Suleiman Mohammed Argungu.

Wike’s presence on both lists has raised speculation and garnered attention. Last month, his name appeared on the list of ministerial nominees submitted by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu to the Senate. This led to rumors of Wike potentially leaving the PDP.

However, in his first media briefing as FCT Minister, Wike asserted that his nomination was approved by the PDP national leadership, including Acting National Chairman Iliya Damagum. He cited letters of endorsement from various PDP officials as evidence of their support for his appointment.

Wike’s active role in supporting APC candidates in the last February presidential election in Rivers State, particularly President Tinubu, and his involvement in the selection of presiding officers for the 10th National Assembly, have added intrigue to his dual inclusion in campaign teams.

The Bayelsa State National Campaign Council, with Gombe State Governor Inuwa Yahaya as Chairman, boasts prominent APC figures as co-chairmen, including Senate President Godswill Akpabio, former Jigawa State Governor and Minister of Defence Abubakar Badaru, and Secretary to the Government of the Federation George Akume.

As this situation unfolds, observers are left wondering about Wike’s intentions and the implications of his involvement on both sides of the political spectrum.
