DSS Operatives Retrieve 18 Bags of Money and Documents from Suspended CBN Governor’s Residence.

 

A reliable sources have revealed that operatives from the Department of State Services (DSS) have successfully recovered a substantial amount of money and crucial documents from the residence of Godwin Emefiele, the suspended governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN). It has been reported that no fewer than 18 Ghana-must-go bags were seized during a meticulous search operation conducted by the DSS at Emefiele’s Lagos residence.

Emefiele, who had been taken into custody by the DSS on June 10, has been detained for a period of eight days. However, the investigation into his alleged activities while serving as the head of the apex bank is far from being concluded, suggesting that his time in DSS custody may be extended.

Sources indicate that the DSS obtained a court order on Thursday, granting them permission to detain the former CBN chief for an initial period of three weeks. However, it is speculated that the detention may surpass this timeline.

Consequently, Emefiele was transported from the DSS custody in Abuja to Lagos, where his residential premises were thoroughly searched by DSS operatives.

The subsequent day saw the removal of the aforementioned 18 Ghana-must-go bags, believed to contain a significant amount of currency and essential documents. The bags, along with Emefiele, were flown back to Abuja on Friday afternoon. Investigators have since resumed questioning the former CBN governor, delving deeper into the findings obtained from the search.

Furthermore, it has come to light that the DSS has launched a manhunt for Emefiele’s personal assistant, whose identity remains undisclosed. This individual is considered to be a key figure in uncovering Emefiele’s alleged hidden assets and wealth within and outside the country. However, it appears that the personal assistant is currently evading arrest.
