France Plane Human Trafficking: Indian Nationals Finally Depart France After Human Trafficking Suspicions.

A plane carrying approximately 275 Indian nationals, which had been grounded for four days at an airport in France over suspicions of human trafficking, has finally taken off. The chartered Airbus A340, en route from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) to Nicaragua, made a stop at an airport east of Paris to refuel, with 303 people on board.

The Legend Airlines flight faced delays after an anonymous tip-off raised concerns that some passengers might be victims of human trafficking. Châlons-Vatry Airport, approximately 130km (81 miles) from Paris, became the unexpected temporary home for the stranded passengers.

French authorities, acting on the tip-off, detained two individuals from the flight, while others sought asylum in France. The majority of those on board are believed to be Indian citizens employed in the UAE. Suspicions arose that the passengers intended to travel to Nicaragua before potentially attempting to enter the US or Canada.

While the specific details leading to the suspicions remain unclear, the Human Rights League President, Patrick Baudouin, expressed uncertainty about the legitimacy of the tip. At this stage, we’re still unsure,” he stated in an interview with French TV. “Was this a tip that turns out was completely inappropriate, or is there a real crime behind this?”

The Airbus A340, operated by Legend Airlines, a Romanian charter airline with a fleet of four planes, was allowed to resume its journey. It is now believed to be en route to Mumbai, though the reason for the change in destination remains unknown. Authorities have not confirmed whether they definitively determined the absence of criminal activity before permitting the plane to leave.
