Kaduna State , responded to accusations of religious conflict and ethnic cleansing in the wake of a military airstrike that claimed the lives of over 90 individuals.

Renowned figures, including Sheikh Ahmad Gumi, asserted that the Army intentionally targeted villagers, dismissing the air bombardment as more than a mere error.

In an exclusive interview with ChannelsTV on Friday, Governor Uba Sani refuted claims of religious or ethnic cleansing, emphasizing that the incident resulted from the accidental bombing of Tudun Biri village in Igabi Local Government Area by the Nigerian Army.

Governor Uba Sani Words:

“Let me make it clear (that) in Kaduna State, we don’t have any religious or ethnic differences,” the governor said.

“At the beginning, a lot of people particularly the religious and ethnic merchants, I’m not surprised if some of them decided to make this issue look like it’s a religious issue. As governor of Kaduna State, we are working together as a team in religious harmony.”

Governor Uba Sani highlighted that the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) had expressed solidarity by leading a delegation to the Kaduna State Government House to convey condolences for the unfortunate incident in Tudun Biri village.

The tragic event on Sunday has drawn condemnation from both local and international watchdogs, prompting calls for thorough investigations and a standardized review of procedural activities.

Although the Nigerian Air Force disclaimed responsibility, the Nigerian Army admitted to the accidental bombing.

During a visit, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Christopher Musa, apologized to the affected community, assuring them that measures would be taken to prevent a recurrence of such incidents.
