Governor Hyacinth Alia of Benue State has denied allegations suggesting that he called for the resignation of the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Abdullahi Ganduje.

 

In a press statement issued on Wednesday in Makurdi by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Tersoo Kula, Governor Alia clarified his position regarding the matter.

 

The statement was issued in response to certain media reports claiming that the governor had called for the resignation of the APC national chairman.

Kula emphasized that Governor Alia had never advocated for the resignation of the APC national chairman and maintained a positive relationship with the leadership under Ganduje’s stewardship.

 

“It is imperative to clarify that at no point did Governor Alia assemble, attend, send a representative, or participate in any meeting to discuss the removal or call for resignation of Alhaji Abdullahi Umar Ganduje,” Kula stated.

He further asserted that Governor Alia remains steadfast in his support and allegiance to the leadership of the National Working Committee of the APC, led by Alhaji Ganduje.

“Furthermore, at no point, whether publicly or privately, has the governor advocated or expressed any desire for the resignation of the National party chairman,” Kula reiterated.

 

Highlighting Governor Alia’s dedication to the development of Benue State, Kula emphasized, “He is focused on changing the fortunes of Benue State. He is alive to his responsibilities as the leader of APC in Benue State and is doing everything legitimate to reposition the party for future victories.”

 

The statement aims to set the record straight regarding Governor Alia’s stance on the leadership of the APC and reaffirms his commitment to the party’s objectives.
