Ikpeazu dismisses speculations on supporting Tinubu
The Governor of Abia State, Dr. Okezie Ikpeazu, has dismissed recent statements attributed to Senate Whip Orji Uzor Kalu that he is supporting Tinubu as mere speculation and wishful thinking.
Governor Ikpeazu told Newsmen after inspecting the ongoing final asphalt overlay on Faulks Road in Aba that “no member of G5 can force another member to support someone against his will, as Senator Kalu has suggested.”
In a recent interview on Monday with Channels Television, Senator Kalu stated:
“Tinubu is well-liked in the North and is from the South-West; he will receive a [considerable] number of votes in the states of Imo, Ebonyi, Abia, Anambra, and Enugu. And he will have the support of Rivers State Governor Wike, so we’re on track.
My local governor Okezie Ikepazu will also support Tinubu. “My senatorial district will give Tinubu 34% to 35% of the vote in order for him to be on the ballot,” he said.
In his response to questions from Newsmen, Governor Ikpeazu dismissed Senator Kalu’s statement as mere wishful thinking and seasonal political speculation.
