Former Presidential Aide Debunks Rumors of Buhari’s Clone ” Jubril of Sudan “in New Book.

In a recent revelation, Femi Adesina, the former Special Adviser on Media and Publicity to President Muhammadu Buhari, dismissed the ludicrous claim of a Buhari clone named ‘Jubril of Sudan.’ Adesina disclosed this in his book, ‘Working with Buhari: Reflections of a Special Adviser, Media and Publicity (2015 – 2023),’ presented in Abuja last Tuesday.

The rumor gained traction after Buhari’s return from a foreign medical trip on August 19, 2021, when speculations surfaced that the President was replaced by a clone.

Adesina recounted the day, emphasizing that Buhari personally complimented him on his attire upon his return, dispelling the absurdity of the clone allegations.

The former presidential aide stated that upon his (Buhari) return from a foreign medical trip on August 19, 2021, rumour began to spread that the erstwhile President wasn’t the real tall, lanky, Daura-born ex-military leader, but rather it was his clone called ‘Jubril of Sudan.’

Adesina recalled that the day the President returned, he (Adesina) had earlier attended the wedding of the daughter of a former Chief of Defence Staff, Gen. Gabriel Olonisakin.

“For such outings, you needed the full Yoruba agbada, with cap to match. That was what I wore. From church and reception, I went straight to the airport, as the President was billed to land about 4 p.m. And when he did, we formed the usual reception line,” Adesina wrote.

The former aide stated that Buhari shook hands with everyone, and when it got to his turn, the ex-military leader complimented him, saying, “Adesina, this is the best I have seen you dressed,” and they laughed at the joke as Buhari was fond of wisecracks.

Adesina questioned the authenticity of the ‘Jubril of Sudan’ clone narrative, stating, “Pathetic people. Pitiable,” and highlighted the President’s warm reception from the public during his ride from Murtala Muhammed Airport to the Presidential Villa in Abuja.

He expressed confidence that if Buhari chose to contest again, he would secure victory based on the overwhelming support demonstrated by the crowd.

The former presidential aide also disclosed other insights in his book, including Buhari’s resistance to sacking the Central Bank of Nigeria’s governor, Godwin Emefiele, amidst speculations about his presidential ambitions in the 2023 general election.

Furthermore, Buhari’s preference for extraditing Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra, rather than resorting to lethal measures, was highlighted.

Adesina’s memoir not only dispels the unfounded clone rumors but also provides a glimpse into the political dynamics and decisions made during Buhari’s tenure from 2015 to 2023.
