The Nigerian Railway Corporation (NRC) has declared the initiation of free train services nationwide.

Starting from Thursday, December 21, 2023, and extending until Thursday, January 4, 2024, this announcement follows closely on the heels of the federal government’s decision to reduce transportation costs by 50 percent for the Christmas and New Year festivities.

According to a statement released by the NRC and obtained by Politics Nigeria passengers are urged to secure their complimentary tickets exclusively through the online e-ticketing platforms.

The corporation emphasizes that tickets will not be issued at any of its train stations, underscoring the importance of obtaining a ticket before boarding.

The NRC also stresses that compliance with security personnel and adherence to the established boarding instructions is essential for all commuters, both at the station and on board the trains.
