Peter Obi, the presidential candidate for the Labour Party (LP) has expressed deep concern over the escalating insecurity and bloodshed in Nigeria, particularly in Plateau, Katsina, and Zamfara states.

Peter Obi, a former governor of Anambra State, took to social media to share his Christmas message and address the alarming situation, lamenting that even countries in openly declared wars had not witnessed the level of brutality and loss of life experienced in Nigeria.

He offered condolences to the families affected by the terrorist attacks, highlighting the horrific nightclub killing in Oba Community, Anambra State, and the Christmas Day tragedy in Plateau State, where the death toll reportedly exceeded 100, with over 300 injured.

The states of Zamfara and Katsina were also mentioned, citing incidents of farmers being killed and others kidnapped.

In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Peter Obi praised the dedication of Nigerian security operatives, acknowledging that they were overstretched and often lacked the prayers and sympathy of citizens. He specifically mentioned the gallant troops battling insecurity, policemen and women patrolling cities and highways, the Civil Defense Corps, and Department of State Security operatives.

He extended condolences to families who lost loved ones to acts of violence, recognizing the challenging times facing the nation.

Obi’s message concluded with a call for continued prayers for the healing of the nation, emphasizing that even countries in openly declared wars had not encountered such a grave level of insecurity, violence, and loss of human lives.
