Peter Obi, the Labour Party’s (LP) presidential candidate, has accused politicians and elites of using racial hatred to fuel the country’s crisis.
The former governor of Anambra State stated this on Saturday, July 29, during The Parallel Facts’ #PeterObiOnParallelFacts Twitter Space forum.
Unifying Nigeria, he claims, is not difficult because it demands sacrifice and doing the right thing.
Obi argued that politicians utilise ethnicity to divide Nigerians because they are unable to compete on character, ability, and other qualities.

“It’s not a difficult thing to unify Nigeria; it’s a question of sacrifice; it’s a question of doing the right thing; Nigerians are united,” he remarked. Politicians and the ruling class in Nigeria are split.
“And they did it on purpose because the more divided we are, the better for them.” They seek to compete by dividing us since they can’t compete in terms of character, competence, and other competitive characteristics.”
Obi reaffirmed that Nigerians are one united people, and said if given the chance, he would tour the country to educate Nigerians on the importance of unity in diversity.

He also asked Nigerians and his supporters to keep calm in the face of all the provocation, saying they would not bring Nigeria down if anything happened.
“We will remain calm no matter what they do to us,” he stated.Even if something bad happens, we will not bring Nigeria down.
“We will stay calm and do the right thing.” I want you all to realise that we have no other country but this one. We will construct it for our children.”
