Former Senator representing Kaduna Central Senatorial District, Shehu Sani, has appealed to Senators of the 10th Assembly not to approve the nomination of Malam Nasir El-Rufai, the former governor of Kaduna State, as a Minister.

In a statement he released on Sunday and shared with journalists, the former lawmaker expressed his astonishment that El-Rufai’s name appeared on the list as a ministerial nominee, considering his evident religious bias, which he believes poses a threat to the unity of the nation.

He urged the three senators from Kaduna State to stand with integrity and reject the confirmation and approval of the former governor, keeping in mind the nation’s future.

Specifically, the three senators from Kaduna State should unequivocally reject El-Rufai’s nomination. Remaining silent would be a betrayal to the people of Kaduna State, who suffered during his eight years of tyranny and persecution.”

“Nigerian Senators must protect the country from the danger of accommodating such a man in a position of power.

A man with a history of religious intolerance, extremism, and disregard for the rule of law is not fit to be a minister.”
