Lagos State Governorship Election Tribunal to Deliver Judgment on Monday.
The Lagos State Governorship Election Tribunal will deliver its judgment on the petition filed by the Labour Party (LP) candidate, Gbadebo Rhodes-Vivour, challenging the victory of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, in the March 9, 2023 governorship election in Lagos State.

Rhodes-Vivour announced this on his X account, formerly known as Twitter, on Saturday, September 23. He wrote, “We have just been informed that judgement on our election petition at the tribunal will be delivered on Monday, the 25th of September.
Rhodes-Vivour had filed his petition on April 1, 2023, alleging that the election was marred by irregularities, violence, and malpractices. He also claimed that Sanwo-Olu was not qualified to contest the election because he had a criminal record in the United States and was of unsound mind.

He prayed the tribunal to nullify the election and order a fresh one or declare him as the duly elected governor of Lagos State.
Sanwo-Olu, who was declared the winner of the election by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) with 739,445 votes against Rhodes-Vivour’s 206,141 votes, had filed his response on April 19, 2023, denying all the allegations and urging the tribunal to dismiss the petition for lacking in merit.
He also presented evidence to prove his eligibility and integrity, as well as the credibility and validity of the election.
The tribunal, headed by Justice T. A. O. Oyekan-Abdullahi, had commenced hearing of the petition on May 7, 2023, and concluded it on August 31, 2023, after listening to the testimonies and arguments of the parties and their witnesses.
The tribunal had reserved its judgment for a date to be communicated to the parties.
However, with the announcement by Rhodes-Vivour, it appears that the date has been fixed for Monday, September 25.
The judgment is expected to put an end to the legal dispute over the governorship election in Lagos State and determine the fate of Rhodes-Vivour and Sanwo-Olu.
The people of Lagos State and other stakeholders are eagerly awaiting the outcome of the tribunal’s verdict.
