Governor Nyesom Wike of Rivers State has responded to a gaffe made by Iyorchia Ayu, national chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, during the party’s presidential campaign in Kano State.
Recall that on Thursday, during the party’s presidential campaign in the state of Kano, Ayu stated that the PDP had brought shame and should not be allowed to retain power.

He was presumably referring to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
Wike stated that Ayu’s remark that the PDP brought shame to Nigeria was not a slip of the tongue, but rather a sincere remark from the depths of his heart.
Wike spoke during the Eleme Local Government Area Rivers State PDP Campaign.

“When you see the funeral directors, you will know who came to murder this party. However, the party will not perish; they will perish first. I had no idea they were so evil to this party; it’s no wonder they left and joined ACN before.
“He (Ayu) stated that they will not allow the PDP to assume power; is he a competent chairman? Isn’t that anti-party? Is the chairman not acting against the party? The mouth speaks from the wealth of the heart. For us in the state of Rivers, our own party is a good one. Wike stated that our party has served Rivers State well.
