The Independent National Electoral Commission has declared inconclusive the Adamawa State governorship election held last Saturday.

 

The INEC official stated that its decision was based on the margin of votes recorded by the contestants.

The candidate for the All Progressives Congress in the state, Senator , also known as Binani, received 390,275 votes, while the incumbent governor and candidate for the Peoples Democratic Party, Ahmadu Fintiri, received 421,524.

Prof. Mohammed Mele, the State Collation Officer, stated that elections were cancelled in 69 polling units, affecting 37,016 potential voters with PVCs in those polling units.

Usman Maulud, the APC agent at the collation centre, rejected the election results.

 

The agent of the PDP, Dr. Aliyu Idi-Hong, who protested the declaration of the election as inconclusive argued that the grounds relied on by the returning officer in making that determination were not valid.

According to him, less than 7,000 registered voters were affected in the areas where elections were cancelled, and the cancellation was solely due to over voting.

 

Therefore, he lamented that the APC and INEC officials had deliberately colluded to steal the elections in Adamawa at all costs.

“Their conception of ambiguity is criminal. “It is deliberate collusion, and it proves that this election result has always been predetermined to be stolen,” said Hong.

INEC Announces Governorship Election Winner in Another APC-Controlled State.

Senator Bassey Otu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate for governor in Cross Rivers state in 2023, has been declared the winner of the state’s governorship election.

Prof. Teddy Charles Adias, returning officer of the Independent National Electoral Commission, declared Senator Otu the victor on Monday, March 20. (INEC).

Sen. Sandy Onor of the People’s Democratic Party, PDP, who received 179,619 votes, was defeated by election winner Otu, who received 258,619 votes.

INEC makes a new determination regarding the tabulation of election results for governor in two southeast states.

On Monday, March 20, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) announced that the coalition of results in two southeast Nigerian states has been suspended.

INEC’s national commissioner and chairman of the information and voter education committee, Festus Okoye, said in a statement that the commission met on Monday to review the conduct of the governorship and state assembly elections in Abia and Enugu states.
