Boko Haram chief bomber, Awana Gaidam, killed by own IED

Awana Gaidam, the chief bombmaker and a senior member of the terrorist group Boko Haram, was killed by his own Improvised Explosive Device.
The 39-year-old terrorist was one of Boko Haram’s experts on improvised explosive devices.

Awana was allegedly responsible for numerous IED attacks against Operation Hadin Kai troops along major highways between Maiduguri and Damboa, Bama and Pulka and Bita, and Banki and Darajamal’s general area.
This online newspaper has learned that Gaidam was killed instantly when a bomb detonated near Njumia and Arra in the Sambisa forest on Monday.
According to sources, Awana planted bombs at strategic locations in the Sambisa forest in order to fortify his camp, but the trap ultimately claim his life.
Since 2022, Boko Haram and its offshoot, the Islamic State of West Africa Province (ISWAP), have employed IEDs in more than 90 random attacks in northeast Nigeria.
Meanwhile, Salisu Garba Zuba, an Assistant Superintendent of Police (ASP), was found dead in his home on Friday in Zuba, Gwagwalada Area Council of the Federal Capital Territory.
A relative, Adamu Garba, said Zuba died shortly after he returned from a Thursday night duty at the Gwagwalada Police Division.

He said Zuba, who was healthy, returned from work and decided to rest in his room, but was found dead when his brother went to wake him up for Juma’at prayers.
He added that Zuba’s body was buried in accordance with Islamic customs after being taken to a hospital where his death was confirmed.
Ejes Gist News Nigeria gathered that the deceased officer, a 42-year-old Koro from Zuba group, is survived by two wives and seven children.
