On the final day of the five-day crusade, Abraham claimed the Holy Spirit instructed him to tell people to hand over their cell phones and valuables, but he later stole them.

On the final day of the crusade, Abraham, who allegedly lured the victims into a three-day fast and prayer, was nowhere to be found, despite the victims’ best efforts.

Mrs. Grace Akintola, a victim, stated that many widows attended the crusade because the Pastor promised to give each person a bag of rice and money, and Abraham also promised to provide students with scholarships.

Mrs. Akintola, a widow, described her ordeal as follows: “The Pastor asked an Igbo woman in our area to help him gather widows and students, claiming he wanted to help us.

“He promised some attendees of the crusade money, an amount so large that not even politicians could fulfil it.

“On the final day of the crusade, he sold us a bottle of water for N4,800. Many people paid for the bottled water, which he claimed contained perfume.

Another victim, a student at the University of Ibadan who requested anonymity, stated that the Pastor ordered them to fast for three days, adding that the evangelist collected their phones for safekeeping in order to avoid distraction, not knowing that it was a ruse to steal their possessions.

“He instructed that no phone should ring. This is why he gathered all the phones; in fact, a woman stood up and attempted to photograph him. He took the phone away from her.”

“On the final day of the crusade, he said he wanted to return to the hotel where he was staying to rest. Later, he stated that he wanted to eat at UI, but we had no idea how he escaped with our belongings.

“As a man of God, we held him in high regard. We were unaware that he intended to deceive us using the name of God.

Abraham has been declared wanted by locals following the filing of a report at the Bodija Police station.

Posters bearing his name and image have been distributed throughout the area in an effort to locate him.
