Mob lynch suspected cultist for stabbing mechanic to death
On Friday morning in Umuonyeashi, Nsokpo Ogbaku in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State, a suspected cultist, Chima, also known as Jasper, allegedly stabbed to death a mechanic, Chigozie Anumwee, over a minor dispute.
Jasper, who is from Amakohia Ubi in the Owerri West Local Government Area but resides in his mother’s house, was allegedly stoned to death by an angry mob after allegedly stabbing Anumwee to death.

The tragedy occurred at approximately 11 a.m. yesterday in Umuonyeashi, Nsokpo Ogbaku, according to information gathered by Ejes Gist News NigeriaEjes Gist News Nigeria, and the community members retaliated almost immediately by stoning Jasper to death.
A community source who requested anonymity reported that Jasper stabbed the deceased from Lawa in the Isi-Ogbaku autonomous community in the lower abdomen following a minor argument.
He stated that the young man attempted to flee but was apprehended and stoned to death by the mob when they realised the victim had died.

Justice Chukwunatu Nwafor, secretary of the Ogbaku Youth Association, confirmed that the incident had been reported to the Ogbaku Police Division and that normalcy has been restored in the area.
He described the incident as “the pinnacle of barbarism in our time.”
Henry Okoye, spokesman for the Imo State Police Command, stated that he had not yet received a briefing on the subject and promised to update our correspondent once he did.
