In 2015, Dahiru allegedly abducted Ese from Bayelsa and took her to Kano State, where she was forcefully married and impregnated by him. Yellow initially received a 26-year sentence from a Federal High Court in Bayelsa State. Dissatisfied with the judgment, he appealed to the Port Harcourt Division of the Court of Appeal, which subsequently reduced his sentence to 7 years.
