In response to the recent appointment of President Bola Tinubu as the new Chairman of the Economic Community of West African States (ECOWAS), former Nigerian lawmaker Shehu Sani has broken his silence.

Taking to Twitter, Sani publicly expressed his viewpoint on Tinubu’s emergence as the ECOWAS Chairman. President Tinubu succeeded President Umaro Sissoco Embaló of Guinea-Bissau as the new leader of the regional organization. In light of this development, Sani expressed his anticipation regarding the future actions of President Tinubu concerning Nigeria’s closed land borders.

In his statement, Sani pondered the implications of Nigeria’s closed borders on the principles outlined in the ECOWAS Protocol, which calls for the unhindered movement of people and goods across member states. He concluded by stating that he looks forward to observing how the newly appointed Chairman will address the issue.
