The West African Examinations Council (WAEC) is gearing up to unveil the much-anticipated 2023 Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSCE) results on Monday, August 7, 2023. This significant announcement comes after months of eager anticipation from the student community.

According to Moyosola Adesina, the head of the public affairs unit at WAEC Nigeria, the results will be officially disclosed in a statement that will be made available to the media on Sunday, August 6, 2023. Candidates, along with their families and educators, are anxiously waiting for the outcome of their hard work and dedication during the examination period.

The SSCE candidates, totaling 1,621,853, hailing from 20,851 government and private schools, underwent the examination process from Monday, May 8, to Friday, June 23, 2023. WAEC, a reputable examination body, meticulously marked a grand total of 76 subjects across 197 papers. This daunting task was accomplished in a span of just a few weeks, as marking concluded on Tuesday, August 1. The marking process took place in 85 physical marking venues, supplemented by a state-of-the-art electronic marking center.

Patrick Areghan, the Head of Nigeria’s Office (HNO) at WAEC, had earlier announced in May that the release of the 2023 SSCE results would adhere to the organization’s practice of releasing results 45 days following the last paper’s completion. This tradition ensures that candidates, who had completed their examinations on Friday, June 23, can eagerly anticipate their results’ release on Monday, August 7.

The release of the SSCE results holds exceptional significance for many candidates aspiring to secure admission into tertiary institutions. The scores from this examination are a crucial factor in the admission process, and many hopeful candidates who appeared for the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination (UTME) are in dire need of these results to progress in their academic journey.

As the admission season is in full swing, these eagerly awaited SSCE results are expected to brighten the prospects of admission seekers who also wrote the 2023 UTME. The combination of both results is anticipated to provide a comprehensive evaluation of a student’s capabilities, thereby enhancing their chances of securing admission into their preferred tertiary institutions.
