Labour Party’s Peter Obi Expresses Confidence in Winning Imo State Governorship Election

Peter Obi, the presidential candidate of the Labour Party for the upcoming February 25 presidential election, has expressed strong conviction that his party will emerge victorious in the November 11 governorship election in Imo State.

Speaking in Owerri, the state capital, during the launch of the party’s campaign in the state, Obi highlighted the LP’s reputation for performance and excellence.

Drawing attention to Abia State, which is under the LP’s governance, Obi praised the positive transformation brought about by the party’s leadership.

He credited the state’s progress to a “first-class brain” at the helm who has ushered in effective governance.

“Abure is the national chairman of our party. We don’t have another chairman. LP will win Imo State. Athan Achonu is the only candidate of the party, and he is the best in Imo State. I am happy nobody has changed the process. I believe in the process,” Obi stated confidently.

Obi stressed the importance of having leaders who align their actions with their words and highlighted his party’s commitment to bringing about positive change both in Imo State and across Nigeria.

Addressing the gathering, the governor of Abia State, Alex Otti, affirmed the legitimacy of Athan Achonu as the LP’s sole governorship candidate in Imo State.

Otti, who chaired the panel that oversaw the primary election leading to Achonu’s selection, endorsed him as the party’s representative for the upcoming election.

“The Labour Party is known for its governance. Vote for the Labour Party,” Otti asserted, emphasizing the party’s track record of effective leadership.

Echoing Otti’s sentiments, the national chairman of the Labour Party, Abure, expressed confidence in the party’s ability to secure victory in the state’s upcoming election.

Abure criticized the failures of other major parties and stressed the LP’s commitment to delivering positive change.

Athan Achonu, the party’s governorship candidate, shared his vision for the state’s future. He promised to prioritize local governance, infrastructure development, security improvement, and timely payments for civil servants and pensioners.

Achonu also expressed determination to make history as the first physically challenged person to serve as governor.

“The Labour Party will rescue Nigeria. We will win Imo, Enugu, Kogi, and Bayelsa states,” Achonu asserted, underlining the party’s ambitious goals for the upcoming elections.

The event’s highlight was the symbolic handover of the party’s flag to Athan Achonu by the national chairman, signifying the official commencement of the party’s campaign activities in the state.
