The FBI is set to release around 2,500 documents pertaining to President Tinubu from its database starting in October.

One of Tinubu’s lawyers, Christopher Carmichael, filed the motion on October 18, 2023, seeking permission to appear in the FOIA lawsuit underway in Washington D.C. Carmichael, based in D.C., is an active member in good standing, according to the motion.

The legal team aims to present a comprehensive argument promptly to assert any rights before the October 31 deadline.

This development follows Tinubu’s recent legal battle, where he attempted to prevent a federal court in Chicago from releasing his academic records to the presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), Atiku Abubakar.

The FBI’s intended release of documents has been scheduled in response to a request by Aaron Greenspan, the owner of PlainSite, a platform advocating for transparency and anti-corruption in public service.
