Former President Buhari Reacts to Supreme Court’s Verdict on 2023 Presidential Election.

In the wake of the recent Supreme Court verdict affirming President Bola Tinubu‘s victory in the 2023 presidential election, former President Muhammadu Buhari has expressed his views on the outcome.

The Supreme Court had earlier dismissed the appeals brought by Alhaji Atiku Abubakar of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and Peter Obi of the Labour Party (LP) challenging the election of President Bola Tinubu.

In a statement released on Thursday by his spokesperson, Mallam Garba Shehu, former President Buhari noted that the Supreme Court’s decision reaffirms “the will of the majority of the people against the determined will of a hard-fighting minority.

Buhari acknowledged the extensive and costly legal journey that unfolded over the past eight months, emphasizing that the nation now deserves a break from the intense legal battles.

He commended the opposition for their determined efforts, stating, “The opposition has fought a good fight. Having now exhausted their rights as constitutionally allowed, they should take the hand of fellowship extended by the Tinubu/Shettima APC government.”

The former president urged the opposition to allow the government to carry out its administration and enable the people to benefit from the promises made by the All Progressives Congress.

Buhari expressed his concern about the low voter turnout observed across the country, particularly in urban areas. He emphasized the need for this to change, given the acceptance and vibrancy of democracy in Nigeria.

In conclusion, former President Buhari extended his well wishes to President Tinubu and his team, wishing them a successful term in office. The statement underscores the importance of unity and democratic principles as the country moves forward following the conclusion of the legal battles surrounding the 2023 presidential election.
