Nigeria Boxing Federation Suspends Vice President Over Alleged Impersonation and Unauthorized Actions
The Board of the Nigeria Boxing Federation (NBF) has taken the drastic step of suspending its vice president, Azania Omo-Agege, indefinitely, following allegations of impersonation and unauthorized actions.
In an official letter signed by the secretary general of the federation, Akinyele Oladapo, it was asserted that Omo-Agege had impersonated the NBF president, Lieutenant General Kenneth Minimah (retired).
The decision to suspend Omo-Agege was reportedly made during a Board meeting on November 11, 2023, during which he allegedly failed to defend his actions concerning an unauthorized press release/letter to the International Boxing Association (IBA).

The statement from the NBF outlined that Omo-Agege’s actions had caused embarrassment to the Nigeria Boxing Federation, Nigeria Olympic Committee, Federal Ministry of Sports, and the entire country.
It further accused Omo-Agege of forging and printing the letterhead of the NBF without approval.
The statement released by the NBF read, “At no time has Azania Omo-Agege briefed or written any report on the outcome of meetings at AFBC and IBA for the action of the President.”

The NBF also emphasized that Omo-Agege had failed to utilize the opportunity provided by the board to reconcile with the President during the last Zoom meeting.
This suspension underscores the internal challenges within the Nigeria Boxing Federation, raising questions about the unity and cohesion of the leadership.
The alleged impersonation and unauthorized actions have prompted a decisive response from the board, signaling their commitment to maintaining the integrity and reputation of the federation.
