Nigerian Pastor’s Claim of Divine Weather Change Sparks Social Media Buzz

A video of Enoch Adeboye, the general overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God in Nigeria, has gone viral on social media. In the video, Adeboye recounts an incident where he asked God to “suspend” winter during his visit to Colorado, USA, due to his dislike for cold weather.

In the footage, Adeboye states, “Years ago, I was invited to Colorado, in America, in January. I don’t like cold weather, I don’t like it at all. That’s why God made me in Nigeria. I don’t like cold weather at all. I had to go to this meeting; it was very important, so I said to my father, ‘I’m going to Colorado while I am there, suspend winter.’ I have a witness here today. Throughout the days I was there, people were wearing t-shirts in January. He pushed away the winter, brought in summer.”

Adeboye concludes the story by mentioning that two hours after he left Colorado, snowfall began, stating, “There is a God.”

While the exact date of the speech is unclear, the video has gained traction on social media platforms. Some users expressed skepticism and humor, with one user, Samuel Oguachuba, remarking, “OJA ti burst o! Which Colorado? Ye! Dem don catch Baba Adeboye red-handed for This one no be only me go hear am. When u think you have heard it all.”

However, others defended Adeboye, citing the mysterious nature of miracles. User @oyin_debby noted, “There’s a reason why it’s called a Miracle. It’s not supposed to make sense to everybody.”

The debate sparked discussions on the rationality of the claim, with  X user @deejayfaremi said: “What he said is perfectly reasonable. There are warmer winter days and colder summer days. You can question whether it is due to his prayers or not. But that’s what he believes. A lot of people say silly things in the name of religion. However this isn’t one of those instances.”

It’s important to note that the National Weather Service reports the average temperature in Colorado for January as 31.7 degrees Fahrenheit, with an average snowfall of 6.4 inches, according to data from 1991 to 2020.
